HOW IS THIS BOOK CONSTRUCTED?

The life of the body is the soul; the life of the soul is God.”– St. Anthony of Padua

Let’s start with the book’s content, which is an encounter between a soul and its Maker, from Adam to the present generation. There are many different words and ways to know God, but each word of God has a unique meaning. Inspired by the Spirit of God, I have attempted to specify the relevance of many words of Scripture to a believer’s life. This book also tries to identify different phases for spiritual growth and the path to perfection. The book is divided into two parts. The first part explains what happens when we invite the wisdom of God to change our lives. By doing this, we willingly enter into a covenant with God to experience and abide in His constant love. We come to know more about God and His Kingdom and become light and shade to others around us.

The first part also explains why we must believe in God in order to be taught by God in a very personal relationship. The treatment of this theme highlights the need to believe in the existence of God and receive nourishment from Him for our souls. The whole idea is to receive the light, live in the light, and transmit that light to the world. Using Scripture, I illustrate the existence of God as the necessary, deep root of deliverance from unbelief or self-reliance.

The second part focuses on a surprising relationship between the origin of creation and its end, which is spoken through the prophets in the Old Testament and fulfilled in the New Testament. The complete fulfillment of God’s promises will happen when Christ returns in glory. The key to this understanding is given to us by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, who explains the Old and New Testament purposes in our earthly lives. The prophecies written in Isaiah clearly explain the coming of the Son of God into the world and that He would establish justice and peace.

11 Out of his anguish he shall see light; he shall find satisfaction through his knowledge. The righteous one, my servant, shall make many righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. Isaiah 53:11 (NRSV).

This powerful verse reveals the whole intent of God restoring fallen humankind by the power of His Word and Spirit through His Incarnation, Crucifixion, and Glorification. It is the Spirit of God which brings these events to light in our souls and seals us in the fullness and knowledge of God.
I focus on the Book of Psalms from the Bible to explain the mystery between a soul and its Maker. The life of King David recorded in the Psalms offers the best example that every time he called upon God for help, God was talking to him about the beginning and end of each soul. David foresaw the works of God in his soul and in the souls coming into the world. Every verse in the Book of Psalms cries out that a soul must meet its Savior, Jesus Christ, who would become the Shepherd of all souls and lead them to living water: the Holy Spirit, given to humankind on Pentecost. The Spirit reveals the truth that God works all things for good for those who love Him and believe in His promises.

28 We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 (NRSV).

We see why the Gospel is called “the rescuing power,” which is for me the power of unfolding to those who believe in it.

10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 2 Timothy 1:10 (NRSV)

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16 (NRSV).

Please note that the commentary on each Psalm has three parts: the spoken word itself, a reflection on it, and its fulfillment in the Gospel. The reflection touches on both the fulfillment of the Old Testament in the New and also the return of Christ in glory, which is the final fulfillment of all God’s promises. My intent is to explain the importance of God in human life and how to live this life in meditation upon the mysteries of God, the Source of eternal life.
